Can you ever really get enough of those ever-so-fabulous buttons to cover?! I say NOT! I busted them out Sunday and made up a batch for my fall cards (the pics are horrid - sorry about that)! When I made my last batch into flowers I had a heck of a time getting the felt to stick to well.. anything at all. When RonChops and I were exploring the new Michael's a few weeks ago we were in the glue section searching for silicone glue (never found it.. I am doubting it even exists) and I spotted some GLUE FOR FELT! I snatched that stuff and up and have been itching to make more buttons to cover / flower combos ever since! This was the weekend...and let me tell you.. It works. It's amazing stuff. Kinda looks like really really thick Elmer's glue (you know the kind everyone supposedly tasted at least once in their lifetime - I never touch the stuff)...you glop it on and presto-chango - felt will stick to anything if you use this stuff. I looked it up on line and found it HERE.
So do you ever have an idea you think is just fantastic and you go to try it out and it bombs horribly? Well I had two ideas I have been wanting to give a shot.. and whew.. horrible things happened. I was going to tuck them neatly into the trash can but I decided I HAD to share them first... just in case anyone else had such an idea.
Firstly.. glitter does not look cute stuck to the underneath side of a flat glass marble. I know it sounds cute.. but there isn't an ounce of cuteness within 5 miles of it once you are done. It's not all sparkly and pretty like it is when it's exposed to the elements. I showed RonChops and he said "it doesn't look like I would think glitter would look like..." Sometimes the man has craft observation skills that rival Martha. This was just such a time. I tried and tried to take a pic to show you just how bad it was.. but alas.. oh heck...here is the pic..see what I mean (oh yeah - I had to use the bell because my other brilliant idea was to stick a magnet on the back of it.. it was destined to fail - that was the only way I could even remotely capture it in all it's glitter-esqueness). See that reddish blob magnetized to the bell...thar she blows... literally.
Secondly...(in the same glitter gone bad line-up)... I decided to paint the petals of my paper prima flowers with mod podge (thinned in water of course) and then to dust them ever-so-lightly with glitter. Sounds like it could work.. heck they sell them with glitter on them.. thriftyLolly can make these for LESS... ok... so no she can't and we'll leave it at that (no pics... it's just too lame to share).
On to a craft success story (we need a happy ending folks)! MomChops came over Monday and low and behold.. she's been making the little stuffed pumpkins I shared a few weeks ago in this post HERE. She's even taking it step further and gettin' fancy and making different sizes too. Big thanks to Schlosser Designs for sharing her pattern.
I am hoping to have my bird pattern wrapped up this weekend and I am also working on some other nifty templates you can download and print! I am really excited about these.
If you have any problems with the recipe cards, please let me know. I had to make a few variations before I got them right and even then I am not 100% sure they are going to work out ok once they get into the wide wide world of printers!
Have a terrific week!
P.S. There is still time to enter this week's TGIF Giveaway! Don't delay or I'll sick one of those glitter marbles on you!
