What do you get when you cross an Owl with Candy Corn?

Give me a few and I'll show you...I have to provide some  background before I can reveal the answer to that deep philosophical question...

MomChops came over this past Sunday to work with me on creating an Owl pattern.  We had some pretty funny moments.  The first go at it created this fantastic...  ummm...  well...what would you call that..  a Stuffed Owl Tube?  I fell in love with him so I stuck some Velcro to his bottom and velcroed him to my Ott-Lite.  He's currently watching over me with those giant brown owly eyes. He's UTTerly fantastic!!

We then decided that **HE** needed a fatter bottom (us ladies have enough in that area - it's their turn!)...  oh AND bigger ears too (let's go for the gusto ya know). 

Thus.."The Cat Owl" was born.  M.E.O.W.  So yeah..  call me crazy..  but that's no Owl.  We decided to save this pattern.  I can definitely see a cute cat later on down the road.

At this point we were getting a tad punchy..  we had successfully created a lovely owl tube and a mostly cat - part I dunno what creature.  It was time for plan B!

Plan B involved scouring the Internet for Owl pictures.  We found LOTS and discovered a really cool way to depict the Owl head with a fold of cloth (it's evidently pretty common in Owl sewing circles).  The next 3 hours were spent sewing and resewing and rip stitching and resewing yet again...until finally...

I present to you...(in all their Owly / Candy Corn Bodied Loveliness...)

I mean exactly what happened here???  It looks kinda like an owl in the head and then gently tapers to this lovely FAT dumpling bottom.  Mom and I were cracking up and dead tired at this point so we decided to call it a night and continue on the Owl pattern quest next weekend.

I'll keep you posted. There will be a pattern!  I swears!

I leave you with this parting family shot (somehow Wendy got in on the picture).  We almost had a fight but I calmed things down.
