This post ends the Chocolate Cobbler series (it's like the Godfather of Cobbler really)... But I am still pondering making little matching labels for the ingredient baggies. We'll just have to see if I can squeeze those in during the THREE WEEKS I am off.. hehe.
Today I am going to share a little bit of glittery goodness combined with tags. I know. I know. Glitter makes some people groan in agony. I was showing RonChops some of my tags Saturday and he made a "...that reminds me of that show ...Solid Gold.." comment. If you are too young to remember that show..I give you this link HERE..that should explain it quite well.
I decided that the cobbler template needed some matching tags so I used the tags the birds are holding and just made them bigger.
I also decided that they needed some glitter. I just so happened to be out with MomChops on Saturday morning and we saw a fantastic Winter Snow Glitter Pack from Martha Stew. I spent 15 minutes trying to find the kit online so I could show it to you and it's no where to be found. It might be brand new?? Anyhoot.. there are 6 tubes of white glitter in varying ummm thicknesses??? (fine, coarse, and snow-like...honest... it looks like flakes of snow, etc...). My little demonstration was done using that kit AND some other white glitter I had on hand.. but honest to pete.. you can use any glitter your heart desires. Oh yeah.. and I got that glitter pack I was telling you about at Walmart.
So to begin... you will need the following:
1) LollyChops Cobbler Tag/Ornament Template (PDF available HERE)
2) White glue (I bet elmers would work just fine (but I am not sure) I used the "glitter" glue that came with the Martha pack)
3) A paint brush with a straight edge. I just used a cheap set from the hobby store (I got 5 brushes years ago for something like $4.00 and I use them all the time)
4) Water and a place to dab out the glue (I used one of my mini jelly jars for the water and the lid for the glue)
5) 110lb Card stock paper (print the tags on this stuff)
6) Fine white glitter AND maybe some colored glitters to be extra fancy (Lolly loves fancy!!!)!
Once you have printed the tag template, take a small amount of glue and brush a fine film of it over one of the ornament shapes. The colors will probably smear a little but that's ok! At first I would cover the entire shape (make sure you go outside the lines). Once you have an even thin coat of glue tap some of your glitter of choice over the top and then tap off the excess. I usually tap my excess on to a folded sheet of paper so I can easily get the extra glitter back into the little container.
Once you have done a few shapes you can get fancy and just apply glue to the inside or outside on one of the colors on the tags. I even went as far as to do 3 different colored glitters on one tag (that particular tag is what sparked the "solid gold" comment from RonChops). I have to admit that is is a tad over the top but who cares! It looks pretty neat.
For the colored glitter tags I used some Martha Stew. colored glitter I already had on hand. The three colors I used were: Brownstone, Turquoise and Fire Opal. I simply love these colors!!
Once you have the glitter applied to the shapes - all you have to do is cut along the outside of the tag shape and then poof.. you have rad tags! I punched a hole in the top of mine and added jute string.. but you can pretty much use any ribbon or string you want!
The neat thing about that Winter Snow Glitter Pack is that it has some really neat glitters. Some are really sparkly and some are chunky and kinda matt. For the price (which was about $8.97 for 6 different glitters + glue) I think it's an excellent deal! I was making tags and doing all sorts of glitter experiments and I did not even put a dent in the bottles.
Oh and as I was poking around the Martha Stew site I saw THESE little clear bags. They would be perfect for the Cobbler main ingredient holder bag.. and they are on sale (my favorite word ever)!
I hope you enjoy these little tags. You can of course just print them and punch a hole with no glitter effects.. but heck... what fun would that be???
HUGS everyone! Virtual Lolly will be back tomorrow with more downloads!!!
