As promised.. there will be NO downloads today.. just a hint of what's to come tomorrow (a download of course).
If you recall I shared a pic of a stack of ingredients a week or so ago and promised to reveal the recipe....later! Penny from Sew Take a Hike brilliantly figured my big secret out because being the OCD type that I am - I had meticulously labeled the image of the stacked ingredients.. as "Chocolate Cobbler"...Penny thought it was pretty funny that she figured out my big surprise and I tend to agree with her. There are times Ms. Lolly.. when you need to chill out just a little bit and not be so obsessive about labeling your images. I am talking to myself already so we know this is gonna be a good post right!?!
Robyn (who from this day forward will be called "Mrs. Carrot Cake Cookies") shared this really cool gift that her and her hub made up and gave away a few years ago. It was a lovely stack of ingredients to make your very own Chocolate Cobbler (all you had to do was add a few things and presto-change-o - you had some killer cobbler). When her hub brought this little marvel into work to show me I nearly jumped up and ran home to start working on it for the blog. I KNEW this was gonna make a great addition to the gifts in a jar series I have planned (only these are gifts in baggies of course).
I was forced to make a chocolate cobbler all my very own for quality assurance purposes. I would not want to endorse something I had not taste tested at least *twice*. The sacrifices I make for this blog.. I swear.
So it's pretty amazing stuff. Basically you get a chocolate cake with nuts that secretly has nestled under it's fabulousness a giant pyroclastic flow of molten chocolate sauce. And this little recipe makes enough to feed like 400 people. RonChops and I had a bowl each and that's the dent we made in it (see the pic there). That's it. Fortunately we had vanilla ice cream cause that really is the key to the whole thing. Since it makes it's own chocolate sauce.. it's like getting a cake/brownie combo with piping hot chocolate sauce that goes with it. I am not one to handle massively rich and sweet stuff (basically I am a wimp) so I have to baby up and have some ice cream to tone it down a tad.
I cannot reveal the entire way you put this whole thing together cause you have to have a cool template paper thing that you wrap it up in..(that's what the pic at the top of the post is...a cute little paper wrapping thingy that you can...wait for it.... download and print. Shocking I know. It's going to have birds and snow flakes I think). I'll share the final template and how to put it all together tomorrow. For now all you get is the recipe to make it...you might have to take one for the team and make it up to see what you think. I had all the ingredients on hand and I bet a bunch of you out there will too.
So here we go...(make sure you follow the instructions - I know they sound weird and it looks weird too - but whatever you do...don't stir).
Chocolate Cobbler Recipe
6 Tbl butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 Tbl baking cocoa
1/2 cup of milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup of baking cocoa
1 1/2 cups of boiling water
1. Melt butter in 13x9 baking pan in a 350 oven.
2. Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, 3/4 cup of sugar, pecans, 2 Tbl baking cocoa, milk and vanilla in a small bowl; spoon mixture over the melted butter. DO NOT STIR TO MIX!
3. Mix remaining sugars and 1/4 cup of cocoa together and sprinkle over batter.. DO NOT STIR TO MIX!
4. Next, pour the boiling water over the top. DO NOT STIR!
5. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
Cool and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
You'll notice that this healthy recipe has SIX tablespoons of butter. Well folks.. it's no surprise that this came from Mrs. Carrot Cake Cookies (a.k.a.. Mrs. Butter Is My Favorite Ingredient Pants - what do you expect)!
Instructions on how to put this together along with a fantastic template you can download and print to go with it.. coming tomorrow!
Hope you all had a happy election day!
P.S. It's still not too late to enter this weeks giveaway. That pendant is looking awfully lonely over there.
