...and make room for even more calendars. I warned you guys Monday.. this was a week of posts talking about the same thing.. are ya tired of them yet??
Today we are going to go over ideas for using those pesky photo corners (I say pesky cause I have never used them before) AND corner punches (which I heart BIG time (but not as much as vellum - corner punches can be my boyfriend though). I guess you could say it's ninety degree angle day!
Let's start with photo corners cause they are the most boring (well the ones I have are.. but I know there are some super fancy / cool ones out there - but they have not found their way into my shopping basket-o-crafty delights...yet).
So you have your vellum (who loves vellum??? me that's who!!!)..and your behind pages all lined up and eyeletted together (did I just make up a new word??).
After time the vellum is going to start to curl (it's the only downside with vellum really (but I love it anyway.. no one is perfect right???).. so I figured we needed a way to get it to stay with it's behind piece.. enter ye ole plain photo corners.
This part is really easy.. all you have to do is place a little rolling glue on the back of the behind piece and place the little photo corner over the vellum and behind piece together (press the back piece so the photo corner sticks to it). This will keep it from falling off! You will want to do this for each set of months.
Nextly.. we are going to cover Corner Punches (also called slot punches). I have 3 to share with you today. They are all made by EK Success (I'll list resource links for each one under it's corresponding picture).
They work by cutting a corner in the corner of your paper (shocking..yet true).. and then you can tuck another page into the slot that's left behind..and a little design shows through. Each punch has a removable guide so if you wanted to do these on curved or uneven edges you could. It's pretty easy to remove (it's that clear piece you see in the pic above).
Here are the few that I have (I used contrasting colors so you could see the designs a little better).
Corner Punch (Laurel). Available HERE.
Corner Punch (Corbel). Available HERE.
Corner Punch (Trumpet Flower). Available HERE.
Nextly.. you will want to use the "Corner Punch Template" from the first calendar template (available HERE). I made this page shorter and narrower than all of the other pages.
In order to tuck the vellum piece into the slot it needs to be smaller that the piece behind it. I measured how each of my corner slot punches punched on a right angle and they were all pretty much the same distance from the sides and bottom (so hopefully this template will work with any of the EK Success punches). You can adjust as needed..but it should work for you. You will need to cut down your vellum/top pieces to be the same size as this little fella (then you can tuck vellum into your slots till your hearts content).
Here is a bottom close-up view of the vellum tucked into the piece behind it.
I think it looks pretty snazzy!
Here's the whole thing put together with the sunlight shining through the ever-so-fabulous vellum!
I think it's a really cool effect!
oh and Friday... I am going to have a giveaway (whoot)...yep...that's right! Free stuff from Lolly!
Super Squeezers!
