Every time there is a Friday the 13th I always think of my Grandma! She always used to tell me that Friday the 13th was actually her lucky day because she was born on one. So here's to my GrammyChops! In her memory - I dedicate this past week of embroidery fun! She was such a fabulous person... so crafty and inspiring! You guys would have loved her! Honest to peanuts!
I actually had to attend a surprise research conference yesterday (it was a surprise because I did not know I was going until I got to work). The conference started at 8:30 and was about an hour away)... thus enters my garmin (cause it was way far away and I cannot navigate my way out of a paper bag without it)! Unfortunately I got home kinda late and did not get to work on the project I had planned for today as much as I would have liked. Shucks.
I'll still share - cause we have to share the good with the ugly right? Sigh.
It did not start out half bad...
I used the heat transfer pencil but did not let it sit long enough.
Unfortunately I think I picked the wrong stitch to outline the flower petals.
...I think it's way too thick...
and this is as far as I got.
:(
I really wanted to go out with a bang on the last day of embroidery week (in the project sharesy department anyway)... but time has not allowed me to get everything I wanted to get done...well done.
I think I learned a few things this week (first times are good for that). 1) More projects need to be complete before the big event! 2) Warn the folks out there in Lolly Land way way way before we plan things like this (so you guys have time to get ready too)... 3) Ask for more suggestions for patterns (I got almost all of these requests from you - and I only did not get to do one (I hope it's only one anyway)... (sleepy little sushi is still in the works Rach... who knew how hard it would be to draw a convincing tired face on a piece of sushi...!!)... <--- see what I mean!!!
Did I mention more planning? Heck... I am wondering if some of you guys might be willing to test out the patterns before I share them with everyone else. Maybe if I had help with showing the finished projects - it might actually go smoother? Anyone feeling adventurous out there? Just leave me a comment or send me an email and let me know if you want to get more involved in the next E.W.?!
...and now for the patterns!
Shy Flower
AND (I saved the best for last)!!!
...that's right folks!!!
HUGS HUGS and more HUGS!!!! ....to everyone... cause it's Valentine's weekend and ALL!
See.. that's what I am talking about! It's all about the HUGS!
The next embroidery week will be in about 3 months... (I am thinking June (for my birthday))!!! Get your thinking caps on and get ready! I promise the next one is going to be 400 times more fun and have loads more patterns!
I'll still be sharing my progress on the embroidery stuff I have shared and started this past week (I cannot wait to show you the Flower Stems and Leaves all finished (it's way cool)... AND... I am going to do a special series on bead embroidery (you do not have to wait till June). I'll see what I can get worked up well before then ok!
One more thing... I am going to start warning you guys before I start on any major projects - in case you want to craft along with me (doesn't that sound like FUN!?!?). The first one I have planned involves corks (from wine bottles). You are going to need a TON of them... so hit up your local restaurants (and if you ask nice they will save them for you. for real. that's how I get mine).
Not to sound too sappy.. but I heart you all! You have made the past 6 months I have been blogging the most wonderful. Ever!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
P.S. I want to send some extra special hugs to my hub RonChops. Every single night this past week he's made us dinner (nice ones too.. involving grilled foods and veggies).. he really supported me throughout this whole embroidery week extravaganza!! Thanks Mr. Chops! You are the bestest.
P.S.S.T. xoxoxoxoxo
