If you are new here and have never been a part of one of these, welcome and hang on cause it's gonna be a little zany. It takes me a loooong time to prepare cause well... there are tons of crafts going on! 5 whole days of Lolly! Yikes!!! Can you stand it!?!?!
I really wanted to call this Week Of Wall Flowers so I could use the acronym WWF and scare you all into thinking I had concocted a whole week of wrastler flower crafts... but that was too scary even for me! On occasion I do have my limits.
I decided to do something different for this theme week. I have amassed so many bookmarks-o-crafts that I want to try... I am pretty sure those bookmarks could keep me crafting for the rest of my life... so I decided it was time to bust out my links and actually make some of these puppies!
So what I'll be doing is featuring links to other people's tutorials (plus few new ones from me too)! Then I'll share what I made from them, what I faced and what I did with the end results. As you can prolly guess... I picked ALL flower tutorials and framed them in various and sundry frames. We will be doing 2 tutorials per day with a single color theme.
Today's Color: Orange (I was thinking about going with gray as today's color as RonChops lovingly commented on my new outcropping of gray hairs this past Friday evening... but I decided that orange was MUCH more exciting. I'll be dealing with RonChops and his "look at all those grays" remark later. Trust Lolly.)
Today's Featured tutorials:
MollyChicken - Fabric Flower Tutorial
Juliana - 17 Turtles - Fabric Flower Accent
Let's get started...
The fabric flower from MollyChicken might possibly be one of the easiest flowers featured this week.
You just need a scrap of fabric, scissors, a needle and thread and you are good to go.
I can make up one of these in about 10 minutes!
No foolin'!
I found that using 13 strips seemed to give me the fullest flower.
For some of the versions I made I alternated fabric types and colors.
Think... felt, fabric, felt, fabric, felt, fabric... etc...
or
Light teal, dark teal, light teal, dark teal, light teal, dark teal, etc...
(I made a few using felt and they came out fabulously)!!
Did I mention that I used felt AND teal?
Sigh.
Ok, we are good.
When I got to this step I was a tad worried...
I mean... what exactly IS that anyway?
(I think I have used more italicized type in this post than ever before)
I must have a fever.
...but the flower cinches up just like she said it would!
I loves me some MollyChicken crafts!!
I finished mine off with a button center!
(and in my other ones I added extra felt flower too... you'll see those later this week)
Nextly...
These flowers from Juliana are so fun and easy to make! I know I featured them a couple of weeks ago, but I have made a zillion
of them since I saw them and it's fair to say that I
am simply smitten!
It takes no time at all and if you have the circles dies from Sizzix... they are ever easier!
I used the largest circle from the Circles #2 die (2.5 inches) and the big Clear circle die (4 inches) to make these.
Those two circles shapes make nice sized flowers that you can nest inside of each other!
Sew cool!!!
Here is the "cone" step in the process...
They look like they are at a skating rink...
I think the DJ just called for couples skate... but I can't be sure.
I finished these off with a felt flower in the center and a giant button!
...remember...
Make sure you check the tutorial links above for the "how to" details for both of these flowers!
They are super fast and FUN!
Framin' it up!
I decided to do groupings of a bunch of the flowers from this week's tutorials in a picture frame that's kinda odd.
All of the frames are stuck together.
I got this particular frame at Michaels here recently.
(make sure you use your 40% off coupon if you go... I got it for $10 smackers)
I took out the glass and cut scrapbook paper to fit within each opening.
I used American Crafts - Botanique papers (Lucille and Opal).
Once I had all of the flowers made for this project, I just kinda laid them about until I had an arrangement I was happy with.
(sorry for the weird angle of this picture)
Here is the completed project!
...and a little close-up of one of the sections...
I loves that crocheted flower... Soooooo easy to make.
Just wait and see!
...and the last close-up...
(I'll share the other sections later this week with the other tutorials... I'm such a mean ole Lolly)!
(psst... that's a smooshy stack butterfly... you can learn how to make that fella HERE).
