Hi everyone! Tonight on Ustream I'll be sharing some different techniques you can use to jazz up a simple tree silhouette! You can get the .svg file for the tree HERE and a PDF of the pattern HERE! You can either use your Cricut with SCAL or you can simply print the tree pattern and trace/cut it out!
ScrapStasher's Anonymous...
Two weeks ago I was scheming on a ScrapStasher's project with Tracy from The Little Blue House! We talked about doing a tree and after a few iterations we finally had the pattern worked out!
Wondering what ScrapStasher's Anonymous is? Once a month Tracy puts together a quick and fabulous project that you can do using the goodies you already have in your stash! Roughly 60+ ladies get together at the The Little Blue House (in batches not all at once!!!) to discover what Tracy has cooked up for them! She publishes a supply list before the meetings and everyone shops their stash and brings their goodies! I have participated in several of these get togethers and have always walked away with something utterly fabulous!
Now on to the projects!
The base of each of these projects is a stretched 11x14 inch canvas that was painted! I created this little "Trick or Treat" frame using My Minds Eye "Haunted" paper and a lovely piece of Pink Paislee "Hocus Pocus" paper (if you want resource links let me know!)!
Oh and I'll share some fun faux wood graining techniques tonight on the show (you can barely see it but the background on this piece is an utterly fabulous green on green wood grain)!
This next project was made using felt, fabric and burlap as the basis for each tree leaf!
I'll show you how to swirl the jute into a fun wood grain pattern tonight as well...
I am all about the wood grain... can ya tell?!?!?!?!
I love the texture of felt (as you guys well know) and use it every chance I get!!!!
Nextly... one of the lovely ScrapStasher's Girls (Cathy Taguwa) brought me TWO of her projects to share with you guys (she's made 4 so far if you can believe it).... these fellas are ADDICTING!
(I was planning on making just one and HAD to make another one cause they are so easy and fun)!
I love love love the papers and distressing she used to make this picture!
She cut out the elements (crows, witches, etc...) from the papers by hand and layered them one on top of the other to create a really stunning 3D effect!
She Mod Podged the entire picture with glitter Mod Podge and then even added some stickles on top of some of the stars to add extra snazzle and shine!
The lettering has been filled in with Glossy Accents and again layered to really make the word "Boo!" stand out!!
...and here is another one from Cathy...
This is her Christmas tree!
It's even more stunning in person than any photo could ever convey!
She has a whole herd of adorable vintage Santa's peeping out through some of the leaf shapes!
She then added extra leaves on top here and there and wrinkled them to add more texture and pop!
She finished the whole thing off with an awesome gold bow!
...now for Tracy's sample tree...
This is the sample Tracy made for the class!
I LOVE the colors and patterned papers she used!
(I mean hello... that's TEAL peeping out up there folks)!!!
She finished off her project with a little button and some love!!!
(and some more teal too!!!)
